Also known as the ‘Queen of Hills’, Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh and was also the summer capital in pre-Independence India. The Kalka-Shimla, the train ride offers spectacular views of the surrounding hills and villages. The weather is pleasant for most of the months with tourists flocking especially during the summer months. The winters are cold with some days of snow from mid-December till February end. Shimla is often covered along with nearby towns of Kufri, a hill-station almost always covered by snow and Chail, famous for a huge palace and the highest cricket ground in the world. Take a leisurely walk along the Ridge, shop at Lakkar Bazaar, explore the shops and eateries along the Mall Road, go for trekking, camp under the stars, enjoy a session of ice skating or golf, watch the sunset at Scandal Point, gain an insight into the Himalayan wildlife and soak in the mesmerising views during the Kalka-Shimla toy train ride.
