``The Holy Caves`` Located in Trikuta hills, 13 kms from Katra, Vaishno Devi Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to Vaishno Devi - a manifestation of Goddess Durga. This renowned shrine is one of the holiest pilgrimages for Hindus. The Shivalik Range of Himalayas is where this Ganga originates from and visiting it is one of the best things to do in Kahsmir in June. Once Mata Vaishanvi was going towards her abode in the cave when the monkey accompanying her felt thirsty. With no water around, Maa shot an arrow in the earth, out of which the Ganga sprang up. That gave it the name Ban (arrow) Ganga. This renowned shrine is one of the holiest pilgrimages for Hindus. Those who are spiritually inclined should not miss out on visiting Vaishno Devi, a major Hindu pilgrimage destination in India. The temple stands on the Trikuta Hills in Jammu. To reach the temple, you will have to take a trek of nearly 14 kilometers which starts from the Ban Ganga bridge. Other options are battery operated cars, ponies, palkies and helicopter rides to Mata Vaishno Devi Temple.
